What a night it was, celebrating the 25th Anniversary of New York SCORES at the New York Athletic Club on the first day of October!

We heard from our inspirational World Cup Poet-Athletes - pictured above from left to right, Tashane, Alexander, Westley, Dejuan and birthday girl Yerismel - during an incredible fireside chat moderated by our Director of Programs, Charlyn Jordon.

We were also fortunate to be joined by our Guest of Honor, Julie Kennedy, who spoke with Priscila Chateau of our Junior Board, reminding us of the early days of SCORES in DC where it started as a girls soccer and poetry program. What an incredible legacy she has left behind!

Our National Poetry Champion, Emiley, kicked off the night in style, reciting her poem “Every Second Cuenta” for the room full of 250 supporters, community members, staff, volunteers and sponsors, everyone one of whom responded with joy to her spirit-lifting words.
